About Spiros Koulouris

Born and raised on the historic Ionian Island of Corfu, Greece, Dr. Koulouris was an independent thinker fascinated with the Cosmos and planet Earth. Spiros had a huge heart, especially for the underdog, for he knew that experience well growing up poor during the Second World War in occupied Corfu.

Dr. Koulouris studied Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Aerospace Medicine in Paris, France, and Neurological Surgery at George Washington University, D.C.  But his most stimulating courses were those he took at Orange Coast Community College after retiring from Neurosurgery…. courses in Geology, Astronomy, Physics, Marine Biology, and Mathematics. He kept the curriculum for each course in binders in his office, including his handwritten notes on the material.
