About Sara Joan Franklin
Welcome to Sara Joan Franklin, the 2025 recipient of the SEKA Environmental Scholarship!
Sara is a dedicated and high-achieving student. She credits OCC, especially its Honors Program and dedicated faculty, with transforming her academic path and helping her clarify her goals.
Sara plans to transfer to a University of California campus, with UCLA as her first choice. Her long-term goal is to earn a law degree and pursue a career in environmental law. As a dual citizen of Costa Rica and the United States, Sara has witnessed the urgent need to protect natural resources across borders.
Receiving the SEKA Scholarship has eased the financial stress of transfer planning and reinforced her confidence in what’s possible. Sara is deeply grateful for the support and views the award as both an honor and a responsibility.
